When 190-200 Taliban, some of them identified as higher ups, were spotted attending a funeral, a chance to wipe them out was passed up. Rules of engagement prohibited our unmanned drone aircraft from blasting these thugs into bloody shreds.
We have become soft and over confident. Our leaders grow pale at the thought that we might cause some civilian casualties. They get the vapors over the thought that we might put a bullet hole in the dome of a mosque. The same was true in the Korean War. General MacArthur was relieved of his command for, among other reasons, bombing the Yalu river bridges which brought troops and munitions into North Korea. In Viet Nam bombing and invading Cambodia, again to cut off enemy supplies, gave the lily-livered in Washington a hissy fit. Our leaders have become infused with the "nice guy" syndrome. They worry about what the rest of the world will think of them. As Douglas MacArthur said,"There is no substitute for victory." Our leaders are not ruthless enough to win a decisive victory against a determined enemy.
At the beginning of World War II the Luftwaffe bombed British cities with little regard to where the bombs fell. Civilian or military, man, woman or child it didn't matter. Any damage inflicted was to the advancement of German war aims. As the tide of war changed the British and American Air Forces returned what the Germans had done to the British tenfold. The firestorm after the mass bomber raids on Hamburg was so hot it melted steel girders. Nothing even approaching this would even be contemplated today.
One definition of leadership is to take responsibility for the actions of subordinates. It's time for our leaders to take the shackles off of our troops. We must become ruthless when dealing with this enemy and stop confining those we capture in the equivalent of a four star hotel while Americans captured by the Islamofacists are mutilated and beheaded.
It's time for the girly-men in Washington to stiffen their spines and serve notice on the barbarians that we are not going to let up until all Islamofacists are dead. No more mealy mouthed apologies for real or perceived slights to Islam.
Since World War II we have fought wars in a manner that precludes victory. In a manner that guarantees that the best we can expect is a draw. This is unacceptable. The American people will rally behind a call for complete victory. But don't hold your breath for any of this to come to pass.
This makes me FURIOUS!!
