Agenda For The Next Congress
The president’s poll numbers are very low. This gets a lot of publicity. What doesn’t get a lot of publicity is that the poll numbers of congress are even lower. As in the time of George III government is out of touch with the governed.
It is time our government started doing what the people want done instead of kow-towing to the monied special interests. In order to help them I put forward this agenda for the new congress to follow when they convene next year.
1. Make English our official language. This should have been done long ago. Most people if asked would probably say that English is already our official language. No more multi-lingual ballots. No more government websites or phone banks which ask if you prefer to communicate in Spanish. American citizens are supposed to be able to speak and understand English. If you can’t that’s tough.
2. CONTROL THE BORDERS!! Enforce our laws. President Bush has called the Minute Men vigilantes which was a dumb thing to say. Our immigration laws had better be enforced, internally as well as at the border, before some real armed vigilantes go to the border and enforce the laws that our government will not enforce.
3. Clarify that anchor babies are not automatically American citizens. No child born in the USA of an illegal alien mother should be rewarded with automatic American citizenship.
4. Stop bearing the financial burden every time there is a disaster somewhere in the world. Let China or Saudi Arabia pick up the tab. They have plenty of our money. We have enough debt as it is.
5. Let’s get serious about becoming energy independent. The Democrats and their eco-lunatic allies have been blocking oil drilling offshore and in ANWR for years now. Republicans should put the blame on them for the high price of gasoline and fuel oil. The possibility of not being re-elected should put the fear of God in them. Other sources of energy should be developed but for the immediate future oil is still the answer.
6. Repeal the political asylum law. This law is much abused. Practically anyone who claims to be oppressed in his home country is granted political asylum. Let them go back to their own country to fight for their rights. If George Washington had fled to France in 1775 we would still be singing “God Save The Queen.”
I don't expect congress to do any of these things and that makes me
FURIOUS!!
