A PRO-AMERICAN GOVERNMENT

Last August I wrote on this site about a Pro-American president outlining what actions I would like to see our president take. Now I'd like to outline what actions I think a Pro-American government should take.

1. Our government should begin a crash program to develop all domestic energy resources. Every other country in the world that has a drop of oil in it's territory can develop it but we cannot. The political contributions of the Sierra Club and similar organizations influence our politicians to such an extent that as a result we are kept dependent on foreign sources of oil. If  countries like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela cut off our oil the present fiscal crisis will seem like child' play.
France gets 80% of it's electric power from nuclear plants. Why can't we? Nuclear power is the cleanest, non-polluting energy there is. The Greenies say, "What about nuclear waste?" France takes care of it. Why can't we?
Now there is a lot of talk about using natural gas, of which we have an abundance, to power our cars and trucks. That's fine. But where are the programs to convert cars and trucks to use this gas in place of gasoline and diesel fuel? Where is the program to help gas stations to sell natural gas? If there are such programs I haven't heard about them.

2. Our trade policies should be reformed. We should withdraw from all international trade organizations. Our trade policies should be determined by the Congress, as prescribed by our Constitution, not by bureaucrats in a foreign country.
Our industries should be rebuilt by placing tariffs on foreign imports. Critics would call this isolationism. That's nonsense. We would still trade with other countries but on bilateral terms not on one size fits all regulations formulated by a bunch of bureaucrats. It has been said that the Smoot-Hawley tariff of the thirties was one of the causes of the Great Depression. That's debatable but there is no such act in force now and it looks more and more like we are headed for something resembling what occurred before we got into World War II.
At least in the thirties we had a substantial industrial complex to help us recover from the Great Depression and win the war. Now we have nothing. Thanks to "Free Trade" our industrial complex is a pale shadow of what it once was.

3.The insane spending must be stopped and an immediate 10% cut in all departments except the military must be imposed. Any politician who votes for excessive spending must be thrown out of office.

These measures, if implemented, would be a good start. For anything like these measures to be put in effect we need leaders who put the welfare of the United States first and their political parties and their personal ambition second. For this we need real patriots.

Abraham Lincoln once said words to the effect that all the armies of the world with Napoleon as it's leader couldn't set foot in the Blue Ridge. That if our nation were to be brought down it would have to be by internal enemies. That's exactly what is happening to us now. Our most dangerous enemies aren't China or Russia or any foreign country. Our enemies are the career politicians in congress who will do anything to keep their cushy jobs.

There is an election in 2010. It may be our last opportunity to save our republic.

DON'T VOTE FOR INCUMBENTS!!!!!
