These words of Abraham Lincoln ring as true today as when he uttered them almost 170 years ago.
Much has been made of the attempts by certain foreign nations to develop nuclear bombs and rightly so. But the real danger to our nation's survival is right here at home in Washington, DC.
Our elected "representatives", instead of working for the good of the people who put them in office spend much of their time trying enact amnesty for illegal aliens. They try to legitimize people who have broken our laws and are taking jobs that rightfully belong to American citizens. At the same time they have depressed wages which has led to the stagnation of wages and depressed the standard of living for all Americans. When the Bush-Kennedy Amnesty Bill was soundly rejected, mostly because of the outraged protests of ordinary citizens, the amnesty gang laid low for a short time. Now they are trying to sneak their un-American program through piecemeal under the names "The Dream (Nightmare?) Act and Strive. I strongly urge that everyone contact their senators and demand that they vote against these two bad bills.
The president in violation of his oath of office has refused to secure our borders, both North and South. He has also allowed his hatchet man Johnny Sutton to imprison Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean and others for doing their duty.
When they aren't trying to give a path to citizenship to millions of criminals our legislators are enacting disastrous trade agreements all of which have not only been bad for our economy but have been bad for national security. NAFTA which was supposed to bring prosperity to Mexico and so to stop the flow of illegals coming into the USA. Instead more aliens than ever are crossing our southern border and Mexico is still mired in poverty.
The latest NAFTA spawned outrage is allowing Mexican trucks to move freely in our country doing jobs which Americans not only will do but are doing right now. How long will it take for our long haul drivers will be working for the low wages paid Mexican drivers? And how long will American owned freight lines survive at all? When the Chinese and/or Muslims start buying our railroads you'll know it's all over for us.
Ordinary American citizens did it once with the amnesty bill. We can do it again by demanding that these harmful trade agreements be terminated. The United States survived and prospered for over 125 years without an income tax. The tariff on imported goods provided sufficient revenue to run the government. We might not be able to do without an income tax these days, unless politicians stop their profligate spending, but income tax rates could be much lower. With a high tariff industries would locate here not where cheap labor allows for worker exploitation and inflated profits for multi-national corporations.
We must make our legislators answerable to the majority of voters and not to special interest campaign contributors. The globalists in government are selling us out for their own greedy interest. Vote them out in 2008.
