A WINNING PLATFORM

Well, the Presidential debates are on and will, unfortunately, continue for what will seem like an eternity. By the time the election comes around the voters might be so sick and tired of listening to the posturing and outright lying that we might possibly see the smallest turnout ever on election day.

Even with all the hot air spewed out by the candidates so far not one of them has articulated the platform that will guarantee victory. As I see it these are the platform planks that a really pro-American candidate should run on:

The Mexican border will be shut down so tight a Mexican mouse can't sneak through.

The target date for finishing the fence along the border will be one year after Inauguration Day.

Social Security verification will be mandatory for all employers hiring new workers.

Employers found to have illegal aliens on their payroll will be fined and jailed.

There are supposedly over 20 million under-educated Americans who are unemployed. Any of these who are receiving public assistance and are able bodied will be directed to fill jobs formerly held by illegal aliens. Refusal to take these jobs will result in a cutoff of assistance.

Sanctuary cities will receive no federal funds.

All petroleum reserves on U.S. territory and off-shore will be developed to decrease our dependence on foreign oil.

New oil refineries will be built in the continental United States as a security measure in case of war. Much of our refined petroleum products are processed in foreign countries.

A crash program, on the style of the Manhattan Project which led to the development of the atom bomb, will be instituted to develop alternative, renewable fuels.

So called "free trade" will be abandoned and we will withdraw from all international trade organizations. Congress will once again control our trade policies which now are in the hands of bureaucrats in Belgium.

So far none of the candidates has even come close to espousing these positions. Political correctness has stifled them.

This makes me FURIOUS!!!!

DEATH WISH II

Israel is continuing "peace" negotiations with the Palestinians. Why is a mystery. In their latest show of chutzpah the Palestinians are demanding complete control over the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism. Of course, they have promised that Jews will be allowed to visit the site. Anyone who believes promises made by Muslims is a fool. Speaking of fools Prime Minister Ohlmert of Israel hasn't broken off negotiations with these arrogant Muslims in the face of these ridiculous demands.

Ohlmert has allowed Hamas to take over the Gaza Strip from where they are lauching rocket attacks on Israeli cities. He is standing idly by while Hezbollah purchases land close to the Israel-Lebanon border which puts them within rocket range of Tel Aviv. He may go down in history as the man whose policies led to the destruction of Israel.

Israel's only hope is to quickly elect Bibi Natanyahu Prime Minister as soon as new elections can be arranged.

And I'm  FURIOUS!!!!!

DEATH WISH

The western world's death wish becomes more evident every day. Instead of taking steps to make themselves more secure, political correctness and disastrous policies are moving the West ever closer to destruction.

Israel and the United States are re-arming Fatah the terrorist organization founded by Yasser Arafat, which was driven out of Gaza by Hamas an even more extreme gang of terrorists. That is if one gang of terrorists can be said to be more extreme than another. As far as I'm concerned a terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist and all should be exterminated like the vermin they are. One thing is certain: The weapons given to Fatah today will be used against Israel and the United States tomorrow.

On another front it has been announced that Saudi Arabia is buying $20 billion in advanced weapons from the United States. Same result as above. Stupid, stupid, stupid. In addition the average American will pay for these weapons in higher oil prices.

Speaking of oil, it's time we threw off the chains of dependency on foreign oil. We have vast untapped oil reserves in the Rocky Mountains and in the Alaska National Wildlife Reserve. Not to mention the reserves in the Continental Shelf. A blowout in an offshore oil platform in 1969 did a lot of damage to beaches and wildlife near Santa Barbara, California. This disaster put a damper on offshore drilling for a long time but better technology developed since the Santa Barbara disaster makes offshore drilling much safer now. We should develop these resources not only to decrease our dependence on foreign oil but also to free our foreign policy of the influence of the oil exporting countries who, by and large, are unfriendly.

Now, as to our trade policies, they can only be described as catastrophic. So-called "Free Trade" has resulted in the destruction of entire US industries. The importation of cheap foreign goods, especially from communist China, has allowed the Bush administration to announce month after month that inflation is under control.

The disastrous trade deficits with communist China have resulted in the Chinese government now holding $1.33 trillion in US Treasuries and is threatening to liquidate them if we don't do their bidding regarding the valuation of their currency versus the dollar. This could ruin the US economy and cause a recession. The same threat could be used to force us to take their poisonous exports. We are in effect becoming a vassal state to China. Communism could yet triumph over democracy without firing a shot unless the fat heads in Washington take steps to stop our reliance on China and other foreign countries who we regard as friendly but who are in reality our enemies.

But we can't expect the fat heads now in Washington to do anything constructive in this matter. The answer is a complete house cleaning in the halls of Congress. Let's elect some new fat heads. Maybe we'll get lucky. In any case we can't do any worse with new people than with those we have now.

DON'T VOTE FOR INCUMBENTS!!!!!

If 98% of incumbents are re-elected as has been true in the past it will make me

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Headline from Reuters: "Border Agent Faces Murder Charge"

Once again we see the travesty of A Border Patrol Agent trying to enforce our laws being persecuted for doing his job. The Agent Nicholas Corbett shot the illegal alien when he was threatened with a rock. Apparently our Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to defend themselves until their heads are bashed in, as has happened, without winding up in court on felony charges. The chief witnesses against Corbett are three other illegal aliens whose word the prosecutors will take as gospel. Let's hope Arizona juries, where this incident occurred, have more sense than Texas juries who sent Ramos, Compean and Gilmer Hernandez to prison.

Hardly a day goes by that we don't hear of a Border Patrol Agent or one of our soldiers, fighting the terrorists in Iraq, being brought up on some trumped up charge. We know this administration doesn't want to enforce our immigration laws. Should we also question its commitment to winning the war in Iraq. It certainly isn't boosting troop morale when our soldiers and Marines are court martialed on the word of Iraqis alone. We have seen time after time that some of our best troops have their lives ruined and their freedom taken away on trumped up charges.

Even if they are acquitted the enormous expense of defending themselves is often ruinous to not only the defendants but their entire families as well. Of course, the government won't reimburse them. They only reimburse other politicians for their legal fees.

Jurymen of Arizona; ACQUIT, ACQUIT, ACQUIT.

ONE TERM IS ENOUGH PART II

Sometime ago I posted an article on this site entitled "ONE TERM IS ENOUGH." Now I'd like to offer further evidence to bolster my advocacy of this position.

The Drudge Report this morning
has an article, from the AP, entitled, "Lawmakers being investigated." Most of those listed are Republicans but party affiliation really doesn't matter. The salient fact is the length of time these people have been enriching themselves while ostensibly "serving" the public.

I won't go into the charges here. The purpose of this posting is to show that the longer people are in government the more likely they are to become corrupt.

Here's the list from the AP story as it appeared on Drudge:

Ted Stevens of Alaska serving his sixth term. Stevens has been in the Senate for over thirty years. It's time for him to retire.

Don Young of Alaska serving his eighteenth term in the House. Both Young an Stevens were involved in the "Bridge to Nowhere" fiasco, one of the most blatant wastes of taxpayer money in recent years. Young should go home and stay there.

John Doolittle of California serving his ninth term in the House. It's time to retire, John.

Jerry Lewis of California serving his fifteenth term in the House.  At the end of this term (hopefully his last) Lewis will have been in the House for thirty years. Sayonara Jerry.

Gary Miller of California now in his fifth term, What is it about the West Coast?

Rick Renzi of Arizona serving his third term in the House. Pretty precocious of Renzi. It only took him three terms to run afoul of the law.

William J. Jefferson of Louisiana serving his ninth term in the House. He of the $90,000 in the freezer fame. If my memory serves me correctly Jefferson also commandeered trucks during Hurricane Katrina to remove valuables from his home when they were needed elsewhere to aid less fortunate victims of the storm. Go to jail. Go straight to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect your lavish pension.

Alan Mollohan of West Virginia serving his thirteenth term in the House. Who knows what he has perpetrated in his over 25 years in Washington?

I have a feeling that this just scrapes the surface of the corruption in Washington. It would probably be a good idea to apply the one term limitation to all levels of government.

DON'T VOTE FOR INCUMBENTS!!!!!

This makes me FURIOUS!!!!!!

HEADING FOR THE TALL GRASS

The Department of Homeland Security spending bill was just passed. The bill included an amendment to include $3 billion in additional funds to strengthen border control and interior enforcement. The amendment was introduced by Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina and Richard Pryor, Democrat of Arkansas.

You remember Senator Graham. He said anyone who disagreed with his position on the Immigration Reform (Amnesty) Bill was a bigot. I don't know if Pryor said anything this stupid but his position on the amnesty bill was the same as Graham's.

These two introducing such an amendment can only be looked upon as an attempt to save their cushy jobs in the Senate. They both are up for re-election next year. If the voters in their states don't have a case of short memory both should have vigorous primary challenges.  Their opponents should hammer home to the electorate that Graham and Pryor tried to sell out not only the people of South Carolina and Arkansas but the rest of the United States as well. If they are not defeated in the primary it is to be devoutly hoped that they will be defeated in the general election by someone who believes in enforcing our laws or at least has learned a lesson from their defeat.

The bill with the amendment passed by a vote of 89-1. The only dissenter was Voinovich of Ohio. This is the man who when asked by Sean Hannity what he thought about the Fairness Doctrine said, "I'm for it whatever it is." I suppose he can be forgiven for voting against funding Homeland Security since he probably didn't know what he was voting against anyway.

Unfortunately, Voinovich isn't up for re-election next year. He'd be a prime candidate for the dust bin along with Graham and Pryor.

THE WAVE OF HATE

The National Council of La Raza has issued a statement saying that the "comprehensive" immigration bill was defeated in the Senate because of a "Wave of hate" from the American public.

For the first and probably the last time I agree with La Raza.

We hate the fact that millions of illegal aliens have broken our laws with impunity.

We hate the fact that President Bush has violated his oath of office by willfully neglecting to enforce our immigration laws.

We hate the fact that feckless politicians tried to foist this very bad bill on the American public.

We hate the fact that Ramos, Compean and Gilmer Hernandez are in prison, prosecuted by Bush's hatchet man Johnny Sutton, for trying to defend our border from invaders and drug smugglers from Mexico.

We hate the fact that racist organizations like La Raza exist in our country.

And most of all we hate the fact that we are constantly lied to by politicians who are supposed to lead and safeguard the United States.

CHANGING PARTY AFFILIATION

There's a lot of talk lately about the large number of voters who are changing their party affiliation from Republican or Democrat to Independent. Many political pundits are placing great store by this move but is it really that significant?

What difference will it make if these  Independent voters march to the polls and vote for the same political hacks who now inhabit the halls of Congress? As it now stands  over 90% of incumbents  are re-elected.  If this trend continues  it will not make any difference what a persons party registration is.

What is needed is a purge of those legislators in both houses who no longer serve the interests of their constituents. A case in point is the recent immigration bill debacle. A vast majority of US citizens were opposed to this monstrosity of a bill. Yet the Democrat majority along with a few misguided Republicans tried to ram this bill through. If a majority of the Senators who tried to pass this measure and who are up for re-election next year are not turned out of office it will be a signal that  business as usual is the order of the day. They will continue doing a disservice to the people  who put them in office.
Among those who should be turned out are the following:

DEMOCRATS                                   REPUBLICANS

Biden DE                                             Coleman MN
Harkin IA                                              Collins ME
Kerry   MA                                            Craig  ID
Lautenberg NJ                                     Domenici NM
Levin  MI                                               Graham    SC
Pryor  AR                                              Hagel        NE
Reed   RI                                               McConnell  KY
                                                               Stevens      AK
                                                                Warner      VA

Many of the Republicans on the list are the "Sunshine Patriots" who are now advocating "redeployment" (read surrender) in Iraq. It looks as though they are trying to salvage their chances of being re-elected next year. Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of these people like the chance that they might lose their cushy jobs.

It will also be an object lesson to those who replace them to listen more closely to their constituents.

So, new Independent voters, show your independence by dumping these Senators who tried to ignore your wishes.

IMPROVING MY OPINION OF CONGRESS PART 2

Continuing this series on how my opinion of Congress can be improved I herewith present Part 2.

1. Limit campaign spending. Periodically we are presented with details on how much money the leading candidates of the major parties have raised. Great stress is placed on who raised the most money. Why should this be relevant to who might be the best president for the country? Is the presidency of the United States for sale? It would seem so. This is also true of most other elective offices as well. The candidate who has raised the most money, and let's face it to raise the kind of money it takes to run a presidential campaign gets it from special interests, usually wins the election.

McCain-Feingold was an attempt to place limits on campaign contributions and campaign activities. This bill was blatantly a violation of the First Amendment guarantee of free speech. In another one of it's stupid decisions the Supreme Court declared this unworkable law to be constitutional.

I'd like to propose a simple solution to this problem. Simple is a concept our legislators in Washington don't seem to understand. They would rather make something complicated so the peasants don't know what they are up to.

So here it is: Let's limit campaign spending. Let's base the amount it is permissible to spend on a presidential campaign to the amount of votes cast in the previous election. In 2004 there were a little over 120 million votes cast. At 25 cents per vote that would make the maximum amount spent by a candidate $30 million. That's enough to inform the electorate as to what the candidate stands for and yet not enough to bombard voters into insensibility so that by the time election day comes around the main thought in most peoples mind is, "Thank God it's over."

Contributors to the various campaigns would no longer be restrained by limits as to how much they can contribute. However, any money taken in by a campaign in excess of $30 million would go the the general fund of the U.S. Treasury.

Any candidate who exceeds the $30 million limit would be disqualified from holding the office for which he ran.

2. Let's please have term limits. For many years term limits were unnecessary. Most legislators would serve for a limited time and then go home. Of late, the trend has been to make serving in Congress a lifetime career, spurred no doubt by the great perks they have given themselves. Relic like Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who has been responsible for enough pork projects to balance the Federal budget, must go. Personally, I'm in favor of the one term and get the hell out but others no doubt have different ideas.

3. The Survival Index. Every month the government reports the amount of inflation for the previous month. Usually this shows a small up tick and we are told inflation is under control. The cost of living index is a compilation of many items including such things as food and clothing but also includes the price of automobile, appliances and many other things. I believe this gives a false impression of how much real inflation is effecting the average American since quite often the price of so-called volatile items is discounted. these volatile items often include food and fuel. they should be called vital items not volatile items. That is why I am proposing that a new index, called "The Survival Index" be compiled and published by the government. This index would include only four items: food, shelter, fuel and clothing. these four items are essential for human survival and would give a truer picture of the effects of inflation on the majority of Americans.

Will any of these suggestions be put into law? I doubt it.

This makes me FURIOUS!!!!

IMPROVING MY OPINION OF CONGRESS PART 1

The Heritage Foundation sent me an email today which contained the poll question “What would improve your opinion of Congress?” The poll contained only one question which boiled down to do you want Congress to be more conservative or more liberal (a misnomer leftist would be more apt)? For me it was a no-brainer but it did inspire me to write this more extensive answer to the question. It will take quite a lot to improve my opinion of Congress and I probably won’t get everything in this column so I reserve the right to add to this piece from time to time.

1. SEAL THE BORDER!! Shouting capitals are needed here because the dunderheads in the Senate don’t seem to get it unless they are shouted at. The storm of protest caused by their attempt to jam the “comprehensive immigration reform bill” down the throats of the overwhelming majority of the American people finally got it through their thick skulls that their cushy jobs were in jeopardy. Losing their jobs is the closest thing to death for these leeches. We should still be vigilant lest they try to sneak this monstrosity through in the middle of the night just as they do their undeserved salary increases. Any new immigration reform bill shouldn’t take more than a dozen pages not the six hundred plus that the latest one covered. So much verbiage just makes for good places to hide things from the American people and most legislators who don’t read what they vote on anyway.
“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

2. Other aspects of our illegal alien problem should be addressed one at a time. “Comprehensive” immigration reform translates to, “Let’s see what we can put over on the peasants.” One little known provision of the late unlamented immigration bill was for the tax payers to be stuck with the fees for immigration lawyers to get the illegals legalized. Hmm, I wonder who could have been responsible for that one.

3. Stop all foreign aid except to countries who stand by us when we need them. I think allies we can really count on are scarce - namely the UK and Israel.

4. Stop big business from exporting jobs and whole industries to foreign countries. Reform of the tax code and high tariffs on imported goods should do the job.

5. Congress should retake it’s constitutional obligation to regulate our foreign trade. No longer should international bodies like NAFTA, WTO, etc. dictate our trade policies. Congress is mandated the power to regulate foreign trade and only a wacky decision by the Supreme Court allowed these international agreements to come into being.

6. “Earmarks”, hereafter known as pork, must go. If a Congressman or Senator has a project to propose for his home district or state it shouldn’t be hidden in a bill with which it has no relevance. It should be introduced as a stand-alone piece of legislation and voted on in the light of day. Considering the thousands of pork barrel projects proposed in this session of the House they may have extend the number of hours they work each week.

7. Reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Our foreign policy is influenced by our need for foreign oil. This oil comes mainly from countries that are unfriendly or unstable creating a situation which could cause fuel prices to skyrocket and adversely affect our economy. Congress should authorize drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, in the continental shelf and anywhere else from which  we can get oil. It’s time for Democrats to stop kow-towing to the Sierra Club and other environmentalist voting blocs and do what is right for the country instead of putting the interests of the Democrat Party first.

The sentiments expressed above about the Democrat Party also applies to the Republicans. The one thing both parties agree on is the thirst for re-election. If you ask them why they are in politics they would probably answer with some malarkey about serving the public. The truth is that the privileges and perks connected with these jobs are so great that few want to give them up.

I think that’s about it for now. The short comings of the Congress are so numerous that there will undoubtedly be further additions to this list.

This makes me FURIOUS!!!!

INJUSTICE

Libby's serves no prison time.

Ramos and Compean are STILL in after almost 6 months in prison.

And Sandy Berger still hasn't taken the lie detector test which was a condition of his slap on the wrist sentence for stealing top secret documents from the National Archives.

Politics really pays in more ways than one.

THE RELIGION OF PEACE

Islam is often described as the “Religion of peace” by President Bush. Let us examine the actions of some of the adherents of this peaceful religion.

Israel, misguidedly, allowed the formation of a separate Palestinian state under the leadership of Yasser Arafat the founder of modern terrorism. The leaders of Israel tried time after time to negotiate a peace treaty with the Palestinians. Each time that it seemed a peaceful solution to the Palestinian problem was imminent Arafat would demand more concessions and the negotiations collapsed. The concessions Arafat demanded would inevitably led to the destruction of the State of Israel which was Arafat’s aim in entering into negotiation in the first place.

After Arafat’s death leadership of the Palestinian government fell into the hands of Mahmoud Abbas another member of Arafat’s terrorist Fatah Party. Abbas continued Arafat’s policy of fruitless peace negotiations hoping for even more concessions from Israel. Much to the shame of the United States pressure from Washington is put on the Israelis to continue negotiating with the duplicitous Palestinians whose aim is nothing less than the destruction of Israel and the annihilation of it’s citizens.

Then in January 2006 an election was held. Did the adherents of the “Religion of Peace” return the “moderate terrorists” of Fatah to power? NO! They gave the even more radical terrorists of Hamas a majority in the Palestinian parliament. It is difficult to classify terrorists as to their degree of radicalism but Hamas soon proved that they outstripped Fatah in viciousness by ousting Fatah from Gaza with much attendant bloodshed in which these barbarians seem to glory.

Now we have a situation where Hamas is in power in Gaza and Fatah is in power in the West Bank. Hamas is cut off from any aid from the West. Fatah, the terrorist group in power in the West Bank, is receiving aid in the form of money and weapons from, guess who? The United States and Israel! This last bit of stupidity defies comprehension.

In the meantime other Islamofacists have mounted a number of thankfully unsuccessful attacks in the United Kingdom with the sole intention of killing as many innocent people as possible. And, of course, there are the continuing bombings in Iraq which kill and maim mostly innocent men, women and children.

But, we are told, it is only a small number of Muslims who are perpetrating these barbaric acts. If the number of terrorists is small, then a large number of Muslims who must have knowledge of these acts, are remaining silent thus making themselves accessories to these atrocities.

What is the answer? How can we stop this carnage? Right now it seems the only answer is the penalty meted out to King Agag and the Amalekites in the Old Testament. Look it up.

SANITY? IN WASHINGTON?

I have been observing the goings on in Washington for quite a few years. I have been wondering if there exists, perhaps oxymoronically, an honest politician.

After observing the recent posturing over the immigration "reform" bill, including the rejection of an amendment which would have barred felons from becoming citizens, I am wondering if there is a SANE politician in Washington.

THE QUALITY OF MERCY IS STRAINED (FOR SOME)

It has been reported that President Bush is considering a pardon or commutation of sentence for Scooter Libby. This seems appropriate since Mr. Libby has been the victim of prosecutorial misconduct on the Nifong scale. Prosecutor Fitzgerald new this was a non-case from the beginning but went ahead with a bogus prosecution anyway.

Speaking of non-cases we must now come to the prosecution (persecution) of Border Patrol agents by Bush's hatchet man Johnny Sutton. Sutton seems to make a specialty out of bringing bogus cases against those trying to protect us against illegal aliens. Then through shrewd lawyering and the cooperation of all too willing judges he has pertinent information withheld from juries to make his victims seem guilty and has them sentenced to long prison terms. I have to say right here that defense lawyers in these cases should be extremely careful who they pick to sit on these juries. In the case of Ramos and Compean several of the jurors were mislead into thinking that they could not have a hung jury even though they thought Ramos and Compean were not guilty. As a result these two men are now serving long prison terms.

RAMOS AND COMPEAN ARE STILL IN PRISON!!!

To paraphrase a great American president: Mr. Bush tear down this wall that keeps these two men in prison.

RAMOS AND COMPEAN ARE STILL IN PRISON!!!!

This makes me FURIOUS!!!
